Concept: The Ecosystem Clinic

The Ecosystem Clinic is a platform to draft scientific treatments for weakened ecosystems. It can be your backyard, state forest, or a bug infestation eating through your houseplant population. All ecosystems are affected by climate change and most of them require help to adapt and to survive.

I'm a molecular ecologist by traning. I learned to sequence genes, proteomes and transcriptomes to understand the health of plant and microbiome populations. But ecosystems are more than that, their systems are often so complex, it requires more than just one perspective to diagnose the problem and to figure out a treatment plan. And it requires more than just scientists.

I want to use the Clinic to share my perspective and to learn from others. Doctors, musicians, chemical engineers, economists, carpenters, and anyone ready to join the conversation.

All ecosystems are real and introduced through a review. I publish reviews to share all information I have gathered and summarised on the case (scientific, economic, social), from pictures, and sound files, to sequenced genes. The steps that follow, to come up with treatment ideas and to implement them, will be different for each case.

I'm thinking of shared interviews with experts, live meetings, and collaborations to implement the treatment plan.

Ecosystems are proposed by the community members. You can send me pictures of your backyard, of a new insect, or of an invasive plant you encountered.

I believe broken ecosystems need treatments and solutions that consider all the many connections and chain reactions that they consist of and the best way to consider all of them, is by sharing and planning, and learning together.
